Extracurricular After School Activities Descriptions 2023/24

REGISTRATION for 2023/24 After School activities for grades 1-6 has re-opened until Friday, September 1st at 7:00pm, or until all activities are full, whichever comes first. View the descriptions below.

MUST READ: After School Supervision Program

We are very pleased to announce that for the 2023/24 school year, after school supervision will be offered to ALL children enrolled in the after school activities program on the day(s) for which they are registered. This service is provided by the Trevor Williams Kids foundation (TWKF) and is included in the registration fees.

You will have 3 options for after school dismissal:

  • I will pick up my child at the time of dismissal from their activity.
  • My child may leave on their own once the activity is finished.
  • My child will stay in after school supervision until 6 p.m.

This class will offer students an introduction to a variety of musical instruments. Students will be learning basic skills, reading music, playing as a group, and practicing proper technique in a fun environment.

The course will stress creativity, while offering a strong musical foundation and wide exposure to different procession instruments and sounds.

Computer Coding

Description

Game Design: Creating and programming a game allows children to apply math, physics, creativity, problem solving and communication skills. With this fun and interactive program, your junior programmers will learn how to design and program their own games. They will explore the concept of codes and they will also learn one of the most important concepts of game programming, namely the application of 3D games like Minecraft. Children will mainly learn the basic concepts of game development and how to use the attributes.

Join our Jr. Chefs as they take a delicious culinary journey preparing nutritious dishes for everyone to enjoy!  CHILDREN WILL LOVE THIS HANDS-ON APPROACH TO COOKING AND EATING!  Kitchen safety, basic food preparation techniques and nutrition will be taught. After making the food, the children will be able to sit and enjoy what they have prepared! They will even take the recipes home teach Mom and Dad a few things!  Some of the recipes include healthy versions chicken nuggets, fruit kebabs, and pasta with tomato sauce!  Join us on a culinary adventure around the world where students will get to stimulate their creativity and tantalize their taste buds!  We’re making gourmet foods with an international flair with food from…Mexico, Italy, to China and more!

Note: Participants are asked to provide their own apron or old shirt.

Description

Be a green thumb and make the world a more beautiful place. Children will work individually and in a group setting. This course will teach children about “farm to table” gardening and harvesting.. They will plant & learn about how to maintain a small garden in their own homes: herbs to spice things up, flowers to beautify, and edible treasures from their very own garden.  (*Most materials are included).

Note: Participants are asked to provide their own apron or old shirt.

This class will run in two sessions from September – November (10 weeks) and from March – May (10 weeks).

Back to basics. Learning how to sew a button or hem a pair of pants are life skills we all need. Sewing helps to develop fine motor skills, patience, ability to follow instructions and execute them. Sewing can be imaginative and creative.
